The best holiday – tour packages in Greece for summer 2020

The best holiday packages in Greece

When it comes to summer vacations, few countries are as popular as Greece! What makes this rather so small country so special is its rich cultural history and of course its natural beauty. The country is also famous for its many islands, numbering in the hundreds, each of which has its own “personality”, while all are absolutely gorgeous and have some of the best beaches in the world. Simply put, a vacation to Greece is a truly unforgettable experience.

Greece may not be large, but it has a lot to offer to her visitors: from ruins of ancient temples all the way to some of the most beautiful places in the world and from quaint and scenic villages to some of the most exclusive and hip clubs in Europe and even the world. The best way to experience the country is with a holiday package, which is why travel agencies offer many of them, which ones are the best though? Which ones should you pick?

Well, the answer to both the questions mentioned above depends on how you like to spend your vacation and what you would like to do during your time away from home and work. With that in mind, let’s see some of the best vacation packages in Greece in general. If you want to explore special  Greece tour packages 2020, you can visit one of the best travel agencies and tour operators in Greece to get full details and plans for your holidays.

What should a good holiday package consist of?

First of all, the package should include all the places that you would like to visit, or at least most of them. Furthermore, included in the quoted price should be the cost of the accommodation (and of course a detailed presentation of the hotel) and of the transportation, especially if you intend to visit many destinations.

Island cruises

Like we said earlier, the first thing that pops to mind when hearing the word Greece is definitely “the Greek islands”. Like we said, there are way too many of them. It’s not an exaggeration when we say that there hundreds of small islands in the Aegean and Ionian Seas. It goes without saying then that a cruise is the best way to visit and explore as many of those islands as possible. You don’t have to go onboard a cruise ship, you can just “island hop” from one island to the next since they are all connected by ferries and other ships. A package that includes visits to islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, Syros and Paros is definitely a good choice.

Get some culture

Greece is not just known for its beautiful beaches, she is also known for its rich history. Many holiday packages are aimed at people who like getting some culture while they are on holiday and they feature visits to famous sites such as the Parthenon, the palace of Knossos, the ancient city of Mycenae and the oracle of Delphi to name but a few.  Now, since those places are located pretty far apart, you should choose which of them you would REALLY like to visit during your stay at the country (one can’t say that they have visited Greece unless they visit the Parthenon) and pick a package that includes most or all of them.

The luxury packages

If you would like to get a taste of the good life, there are some packages that will definitely cover you. The island of Mykonos and others, including Santorini, are known for their extremely luxurious villas which are available to rent to anyone who can afford them. They are also known for their very exclusive restaurant, some of which are run by world-class chefs and frequented by celebrities from all over the world! Some holiday packages will include a stay in a beautiful and ridiculously luxurious villa for the vacation of a lifetime. If you ever wanted to live as a celebrity, even if just for a few days, one of those packages is definitely the right choice for you.

Why you should rent a car in Paros

When it comes to holiday destinations in Greece, both Greeks and foreign visitors alike seem to agree that Paros is one of the best since this small island receives thousands of guests each summer. What sets this island apart from the others in the Aegean Sea is the fact that it is full of picturesque villages and very clean beaches, thus providing a very quaint and relaxing atmosphere to its visitors. Also, the hospitality of the people living there – and of the Greeks in general – is well known all over the world.

One of the first things that one will ask after booking his or her trip to Paros is whether they should also rent a car during their stay there. Most people seem to think that since the island is rather small and it has a quite good or at least decent public transportation system, then a car rental is simply not necessary. That is not always the case however. Let’s see why it’s a good idea to rent a car when you chose to visit the beautiful island of Paros.

The island has a lot to offer

Although Paros is quite small compared to islands such as Rhodes and Crete, it is not as tiny as one might think. The island has a lot of must see sights and beaches – such as the villages Lefkes and Naoussa – and they are not all located close one another. This means that you may need to take multiple buses per day in order to get to where you want to and back to the place where you are staying. Furthermore, some of the best and most secluded and quiet beaches on the island are not reachable by bus, so one should take that into consideration.

Bus schedules aren’t always the best

Buses have their own schedules and routes and although the people at Paros do everything within their power in order to help the island’s visitors enjoy their stay there as much as possible, it is certain that taking the bus will not always be convenient. You might have that you have to wake really early in order to get the bus to a place that you would like to visit or that you will essentially have to spend your entire day in a certain beach because routes to and from there are not really often. Finally, one needs also to take into account the place where he or she will be staying as bus service is definitely better in some places than in others.

Buses can prove to be quiet expensive

Although buying a couple of bus tickets per day is cheaper than renting a car for a day and paying for its gas for a person or a couple, things are quite different when we are talking about families. A 4 member family will have 4 tickets every time they get on a bus and thus the cost of their transportation can sky-rocket before they know it. It’s always good to check rental rates and ticket prices (per person) before deciding whether traveling by bus or renting a car is the better option.

Relatively cheap rates

Since Paros, is such a popular tourist destination, there are many car rental agencies on the island, both local businesses and branches of multinational companies such as Avis and Hertz. This means that competition can be quite fierce, especially when it comes to local businesses, which in turn results to relatively cheap rates. Just use the internet to check out the businesses in the area and their rental rates and you’ll quickly find out that car rentals in Paros aren’t that costly.

Public transport vs car rentals in Paros

When it comes to holiday destinations in Greece, the island of Paros is one of the most popular with both Greeks and foreigners alike. What sets apart this island in the Aegean Sea from the hundreds of other islands in the area is the fact that it is home to some very scenic villages and ports and of course, gorgeous beaches. This means that it is a perfect destination for people looking to spend a few days relaxing in a beautiful place, away from their work and troubles.

The beauty of Paros is known all over the world, however, there is a small problem: although the island is relatively small, it is far from being so small that every site and beach is within walking distance. Paros is meant to be explored and in order to do that, visitors needs some sort of transportation to be able to get around the island and experience everything it has to offer. When it comes to transportation in Paros – and any other place, anywhere in the world for that matter – it all comes down to a very basic dilemma: does one rely on public transport or rent a car? Well, let’s try to provide a definite answer, at least for the case of Paros.

Public transportation

Well, the biggest edge that public transport – buses etc – has over car rentals in Paros is the fact that it is cheaper. A bust ticket costs way less than the daily rate of a rental car and things look even worse for rentals if you consider that the renter also has to pay for gas. However, although the cost using public transport might be less than that of a car rental on a short-term basis, things can be quite different when we are talking on a long-term basis. In other words, if one uses public transport daily for a week instead of renting a car, chances are that on the end of the day, his savings will be pretty minimal. Bust tickets may be relatively cheap, but their costs add up and in the end of the day, they can cost just as much as a car’s daily rental rate.

Furthermore, another drawback of public transport is the fact that one has to rely on the bus router and timetables, which means that they will have to plan their trips and their vacation around the schedules of public transport. In other words, they won’t have complete “freedom” during their vacation and this can be very frustrating and in some cases, even stressful.

Car rentals

Granted, chances are that if one wants to visit only a few select places in Paros, then taking the bus will probably be cheaper than renting a car. There are cases however in which renting a car can be a lot cheaper than taking the bus. For example, a family is better off renting a car for a daily trip than taking the bus, because unlike buses, car rental companies in Paros and other places don’t charge “by the head”. In other words, the daily rate of the car will be the same regardless of whether one or four people will be riding in it and that can help families and groups save money.

The biggest advantage of renting a car however, is the complete freedom of movement that having “your own car” will offer. Simply put, if one rents a car, then Paros is their oyster: they can explore it and experience it as they fit, whenever they want, without worrying about routes and timetables.

We could conclude by saying that public transport is a good idea for solo travelers and couples who don’t really want to explore the entirety of the island, while car rentals are better for families and groups.
